Intense BMX / Monster Energy Pro Team Race Report
ABA Spring Nationals: Albuquerque, New Mexico
Round #6 of the 2010 ABA Pro BMX Race Series was held May 28-30. With 1003 Amateurs and 28 of the world's top Pro riders in attendance this was one exciting weekend of racing. The covered arena houses 81,000 square feet of one of the best BMX tracks anywhere and with over 200 motos of racing each day it showcased the best in BMX racing over the Memorial Day weekend.
This weekend, Intense BMX/Monster Energy Pro Team riders Danny Caluag and David Herman made the trip to Albuquerque.
Danny Caluag has had a great 2010 season so far and his Spring National efforts show he is continuing his winning ways. On Saturday Danny rode well all day in both the Elite Men's and Elite Cruiser Class. Danny missed out making the Elite Men's class, but came back with a vengeance in Elite Cruiser and went from start to finish in the lead, taking the win. On Sunday, Danny made his way into both main events. In Elite Men he finished 4th, and in Elite Cruiser a battle for the win ended up in disappointment, as Danny crashed and finished 8th for the day.
David Herman has put in a lot of effort to regain top form after his early season injury and this weekend he let everyone in attendance know his hard work is paying off. His results of 8th place in the Elite Main event each day do not reflect how well he rode overall this weekend. On each day David made it through the qualifiers on his way to the main event where he was near the front of the pack going into the first turn on both days. Unfortunately, crashes on both days kept David off the podium, but his overall performance demonstrated he is headed in the right direction with his training.
Both David and Danny, as well as, Arielle Martin will head off to round #7 of the ABA Pro Tour, June 5th & 6th in Sacramento, CA for the ABA Summer Nationals.
