INTENSE BMX Europe Dutch National Championships
Intense BMX Europe Dutch National Championships Kampen  30-05-2010

Last weekend the national championships were held in Kampen. The track always looks good here and this time was no exception. During Saturday nights practice there was wind and a little rain but noting major and all Dutch Intense riders were looking good.
The weather forecast for Sunday was not looking very good and they were right for a change. It rained most of Saturday night until about 8:00 Sunday morning. During practice for block 1 (all cruisers and 20” until 14 years old) the track was drying up a little and racing started at 11:00.

Jordi Schippers (15/16 cruiser) and Jeffrey Hoogland (17/24 cruiser) were racing cruiser in block 1 while Roy Bax raced his 20” in 13 boys which is an age group up then normal to get more and better competition and racing experience.
They all transferred out of the moto’s into there main or semi final. After the moto’s of block 1 finished, practice for block 2 started (20” junior, elite, 15/16, 17/24, 24+)

When the moto’s got underway the rain started to pour down and it was on and of until the semi’s which made it very slippery on the gate. In block 2 Jordi Schippers (15/16 boys), Jeffrey Hoogland (Juniormen) and Maartje Hereijgers (Junior/Elite women) all were looking good in there moto’s and transferred out easy onto there main, semi or quarter final.
Because the weather was bad it caused a lot of riders to spin out of the gate and the quarter and semi finals saw some upsets and surprises.

All Intense riders made it to there main event with no problem except Jeffrey Hoogland who spun out on the gate and had to make a pass on the last straight to make it into the main in cruiser.
The main’s started with the cruiser classes and Jordi Schippers spun out on the gate and had to come from behind he gave it a good try but could not get a spot on the podium a 4th place was all he could make of it.
Jeffrey Hoogland had to come from the outside because of his little spin in the semi, He snapped out of the gate and led the race from start to finish and had a solid run crossing the finish with more then a bike length on the rider in second.

After the cruisers it was time for the 20” classes to see who would become national champion. Roy Bax was spinning out on the gate and tried all he could but the time he lost at the gate was too big to make up and he finished 8th. Still not bad considering he is racing an age group up and making the main at the national championships.
After Roy it was time for Jordi Schippers to see how he could do. No major problem at the gate but he got squeezed on the hill but kept on going anyway and was able to make up for it in the first turn. Over the doubles on the second straight he made an unplanned one footer but managed to stay on and keep his 3rd place all the way to the finish.

In Junior men it was Jeffrey Hoogland who really wanted to double and bring home both titles. This time from an inside line he had another good gate and lead again from start to finish making no mistakes making it 2 out of 2.
Maartje Hereijgers was in the Junior/Elite women main with an outside gate position she had to make up ground to make it to the front of the pack she had a good first straight and managed to come out of the first turn in 3rd and maintained this position until the finish.
