Concerns: Cancellation of the "Old Skool of BMX Reunion & Celebrating 30 years of BMX"
scheduled for October 3 – 5th. 2008.
Dear BMX friends,
With this letter I have to inform you about the following: I am very sorry to tell you all that the European Old Skool of BMX Reunion & Celebration of 30 years of BMX in Holland and Europe, that would take place from October 3 - 5th. 2008, has been CANCELLED.
The reason for cancellation is the fact that I (Gerrit Does) returned from Hospital just last Wednesday. For some time I wasn’t quit in a good physical "condition". From July 7th 2008 on
I got ill, stayed at home, worked again for some days and in the weekend of July 20th my situation became worse. From Monday up and till Wednesday around noon, I don’t know (remember) anything anymore. Was brought to Hospital by ambulance early Tuesday and there they diagnosed "Meningitis". For some time, I learned later on, I was in a critical situation, but exceptionally quick I recovered and on Wednesday around noon time, I came to myself again. It was only then, when I learned exactly what happened.
Anyway, after 15 days being hospitalized, 64 sacks of antibiotics and lots of more medicine, I was allowed to go home last Wednesday. However, the specialists treating me, told me: rest, rest, rest for sure till September 17th to come, NO work, NO actions what so ever! Recovery will take at least 3 months and full recovery might take 12 months, so..... I have to wait and see what happens.
For sure this means, that after consultation with the Attractiepark Slagharen management, we had to decide to CANCEL this year scheduled REUNION & CELEBRATION. I was ordered to REST, but I HAD to inform my BMX friends personally, through this letter.
The "plan" is now, have this event one year later, so in 2009. Details early 2009( www.univofbmx.com )
Those of you (and there are people from Denmark, England, Belgium, France and even India) who already booked accommodation, have to CONTACT Attratiepark Slagharen and to have indicate whether they want there money to be returned OR that they still want to come over to spend the weekend at the park (without the event, though!).
The reservations department will contact everybody that booked and ask for their decision on the above.
From right now on, I will take it easy till September 17th 2008. If you do send a mail to me, don’t expect an answer right away, o.k.? Give me some time. Business like questions on Reservations at Slagharen, please contact Slagharen, Thanks!!!!!
